Two Bit vs Pitchfork's 100 Top Tracks of 2006

This started when Buny mentioned he was listening to all of the Top 100 tracks over at Pitchfork and making notes about all of them. Being a follower instead of a leader, I decided to do the same. Yep, you'll have to scroll some. 100-76, 75-51, 50-26, 25-1.

Number 100

Burial: Southern Comfort

Burial - "Southern Comfort"

Buny: Like, though too long.

Anj Kay: I should be listening to this while laying in a pink-velvet lined coffin. Could have cut out almost 2 minutes.

Number 99

The Divine Comedy: A Lady of a Certain Age

The Divine Comedy - "A Lady of a Certain Age"

Buny: Like! Weirdly soulful.

Anj Kay: I liked this one, but I don't know why. I felt as if I was listening to a novelty song.

Number 98

Chelonis R. Jones: Deer in the Headlights (Radio Slave Remix)

Chelonis R. Jones - "Deer in the Headlights (Radio Slave Remix)"

Buny: Trancey-dancey, not for me.

Anj Kay: This song sucks.

Number 97

Midlake: Roscoe

Midlake - "Roscoe"

Buny: Like! 70s harmony and mellow.

Anj Kay: I liked Midlake more when they were performing in college. I don't like change!

Number 96

Oxford Collapse: Please Visit Your National Parks

Oxford Collapse - "Please Visit Your National Parks"

Buny: Don't really like - music's ok but lyrics grate, repetitive.

Anj Kay: Music and lyrics are fighting each other for the forefront and the listener suffers for it. It lets up a little towards the end.

Number 95

Rihanna: S.O.S.

Rihanna - "S.O.S."

Buny: Never liked.

Anj Kay: Okay, I like this song. Don't judge me!

Number 94

Scritti Politti: The Boom Boom Bap

Scritti Politti - "The Boom Boom Bap"

Buny: Live version youtube - hard to tell but I think not my thing, though interesting.

Anj Kay: It reminds me of the lead-ins to so many 80s pop songs. I still mostly like it.

Number 93

The Thermals: Here's Your Future

The Thermals - "Here's Your Future"

Buny: Rocks, like despite content?

Anj Kay: It's either trying to rock too hard or talk too hard. It's hard to pull off both and this song doesn't.

Number 92

Mew: The Zookeeper's Boy

Mew - "The Zookeeper's Boy"

Buny: I should like this but don't really - too much, treacly.

Anj Kay: I like most of the singing, but am not overly fond of the actual music.

Number 91

Escort: Starlight

Escort - "Starlight"

Buny: Not bad, happy disco good coding music.

Anj Kay: I'm kind of picky about my disco music. Sorry, Escort, you just aren't cutting it.

Number 90

Arctic Monkeys: A Certain Chemistry

Arctic Monkeys - "A Certain Chemistry"

Buny: Not usually a fan but I like this song - probably the ska, also nice ending.

Anj Kay: Took a little long to really get going, yet once there, quickly dissolved back into the boring beginning beats.

Number 89

Annuals: Brother

Annuals - "Brother"

Buny: Like! Wasn't sure at first, also ends abruptly.

Anj Kay: Barely there lyrics do nothing to lessen the dullness of the music/noises playing behind them.

Number 88

Geiger: Good Evening (SuperMayer Mix)

Geiger - "Good Evening (SuperMayer Mix)"

Buny: I don't like the talky bits, the rest could be worse.

Anj Kay: This one blows. I hate it.

Number 87

Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Cheated Hearts

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Cheated Hearts"

Buny: Don't mind this but never clicked with me actually liking it better without clip.

Anj Kay: If you like the 3Ys, then you'll love this song. It's like everything else they've done.

Number 86

Spank Rock: Sweet Talk

Spank Rock - "Sweet Talk"

Buny: Like, pretty good sound.

Anj Kay: This song/group will have me dancing around like a dumbass in no time.

Number 85

Beyonce: Ring the Alarm

Beyonce - "Ring the Alarm"

Buny: Nah. mostly one note.

Anj Kay: Uh, no. Typical song from a pop "princess".

Number 84

Boris: Farewell

Boris - "Farewell"

Buny: Big noisy guitars - has moments but don't really like.

Anj Kay: Heavy. Noisy, but in an unappealing way.

Number 83

Cansai de Ser Sexy: Alala

Cansai de Ser Sexy - "Alala"

Buny: Bouncy but nah.

Anj Kay: Even though it's so ridiculously cutesy, I love it.

Number 82

Kris Menace Presents Stars on 33: I Feel Music in Your Heart

Kris Menace Presents Stars on 33 - "I Feel Music in Your Heart"

Buny: Too much in headphones! Also- no reason at all to listen to it big no!

Anj Kay: When did roller-rink disco come back into style? Enough with the repeated lyrics!

Number 81

My Robot Friend (ft. Antony): One More Try

My Robot Friend (ft. Antony) - "One More Try"

Buny: Bouncy but brainless.

Anj Kay: I'm a little in love with this song.

Number 80

Nelly Furtado: Promiscuous

Nelly Furtado - "Promiscuous"

Buny: Boring!

Anj Kay: I don't know why I find this song listenable, but I do. I also don't doubt the truthfulness of the title.

Number 79

Cam'ron: Weekend Girl

Cam'ron - "Weekend Girl"

Buny: I like parts of this but long, too much rap.

Anj Kay: When did we start calling girls "Killah"? Cam'ron's a competent rapper, although this isn't his best. No seriously, "killah"? I guess rappers don't say "schmoopy".

Number 78

Be Your Own Pet: Adventure

Be Your Own Pet - "Adventure"

Buny: A bit Yeah Yeah Yeahs, okay but not a keeper.

Anj Kay: The singer has potential, perhaps if she got with a different band?

Number 77

Jamie Lidell: Multiply (In a Minor Key)

Jamie Lidell - "Multiply (In a Minor Key)"

Buny: Like, smooth.

Anj Kay: Why is the good stuff at only 77? This one is kind of jazz-ish and pop-like.

Number 76

Cham ft Akon: Ghetto Story (Remix)

Cham (ft. Akon) - "Ghetto Story (Remix)"

Buny: Don't hate!

Anj Kay: These two better be from Jamaica or I am kicking some ass. Um, this one is fine. The original Ghetto Story is not as good.

Numbers 100-76, 75-51, 50-26, 25-1.
